Reader’s Journal #9: I, Q

Dear Mrs. Zrihen,
I am very close to finishing the book I, Q by Roland Smith. So far this book is amazing. I have gotten to the falling action part of this book, which means that I am almost finished. This book is 300 pages therefore it took me two weeks. The reason I picked this book is because it contains stuff about secret services and that interests me. Another reason why I picked this book is because I have already read two books by Roland Smith (Zach’s lie and Jack’s run), which are amazing and almost my favorite books. The significances of this book are that it contains realistic fiction content where half is realistic fiction and the other half is mystery.
I did six things before, while, and after reading this book. First, there were two things I did before reading this book. One thing I did before reading this book is I skim and scanned through some text features. One thing I noticed was that since the book was about someone traveling then every time the main characters ended up in a new place it would show a picture on a map of where they are. Another thing I did before reading this book is read the synopsis in he back, which is the first thing that caught my attention to read this book. Second, there were two things I did while reading this book. One thing did while reading this book is after every detail or action I imagined it in my head as a scene in a real movie. Another thing I did while reading this book is I carefully read and after every chapter I made sure I understood what happened. Third there were two things I did after reading this book. One thing I did after reading this book is I went online looked for a summary and found out if I fully understood the whole story and didn’t miss anything.
The genre of this book is fiction-mystery. The characteristics of this book being a mystery is that it talks about two kids and one secret agent finding out if another secret agent is still alive. The main characters in this book is Angela which is the protagonist and Q’s step sister, Q Angela’s step brother and is a protagonist, Boney the protagonist who is the secret spy looking for the other secret spy, and the terrorist are the antagonist. There are a multiple amount of settings but the place in which the story starts is Nevada. The weather conditions were N/A. the social conditions were in the future. This book starts of with a couple of musicians getting married. Roger and blaze. Angela was roger’s daughter and Q was blaze’s son. Roger and Blaze are very good musicians where they are so good they are going on a cross-country tour. Q and Angela must go with them and do there school work over the computer. When they get to Nevada they come upon a man named boney. Blaze, Q’s mom, knows him. As Q finds out that Angela’s mom had died from a bomb and then found out that she died from a bomb while being a spy.  After this boney has said that he is too a secret spy. As they find out that Angela’s mother is still alive they find out that someone is trying to kill them. This is where I got up to in this book and hopes to finish.
The conflict of this book is man verse society and external conflict. The tone of this book would be curious as to how the reader would feel while reading this book. The mood is very curious and just can’t wait until I find out the resolution. The theme of this book cannot yet be found because I haven’t yet finished the book. Although, the theme might be if you love something set it free. The moral of this book is never to put your head down. The point of view is third person objective. The pattern of organization is very hard because the book is very long and I haven’t yet finished it. The author’s purpose for writing this book was to entertain the reader.  If I were to rate this book I would give it a ten out of 10. The reason I gave it a ten out of 10 is because the book contain very good and understandable details. Another reason why I gave this book a ten out of ten is because I got very curious after every other page. This book is probably the best book I have ever read out of all of the other eight books.
                                    Sincerely,
                                             Ofek Peer

Readers Journal #8 IQ

Reader’s Journal #8: IQ
Dear Mrs. Zrhien,
I have just finished reading the book “IQ” by Roland Smith. This book is 300 pages; therefore I did not finish reading it. The reason I picked this book because I have already read two books by Roland Smith, which are Zach’s lie and Jack’s run and those book were amazing so I decided to read another one of his books. The significance of this book is that it doesn’t necessarily sort the book by chapters it sorts the book by main ideas and what the next few pages will be about.
There were six things I did before, during, and after reading this book. First I did two things before reading this book. The first thing I did before reading this book is I flipped a little bit through the pages and saw all of the books written by Roland Smith. The second thing I did before reading this book is I looked to see how many page there were and skim and scanned a little bit through about half of the book and notice how the book was organized.
I then did two things during reading this book. The first thing I did while reading this book is I imagined every single thing that was happening in my mind as if I was watching a movie on TV. The second thing I did while reading this book is I kept asking my self what do I think will happen next.
Last, I did two things after reading part of the book. One thing I did after reading part of this book is I thought of everything that I read and combined all of the information. Another thing I did was after I combine everything I read together I asked my self certain questions like how I think this book would end or what will happen next etc.
The genre of this book is a mystery. The reason that it is a mystery is because it focuses on the reader always being curious. The protagonist in this book        so far from what I read is all of the characters blaze, roger, buddy T, and Angela. So far there are no antagonist unless there are but I just haven’t gotten to that point yet. The foils are the two security guards with buddy T. the setting of this book so far is in San Francisco.
From what I have read so far is mostly the exposition. I read the part of the book where it introduces all of the characters and what they do. Roger has a daughter named and Angela. Quest Munoz but Q for short with his mother Blaze Munoz. Buddy T is Roger’s manager. Roger is a singer. Blaze and Roger are getting married therefore Q and Angela are brother and sister. Q is thirteen and Angela is fifteen and Q really liked Angela but he can now only like her as a sister.
I cannot say the conflict cause I haven’t got there yet. Although, I read the back and saw it said that Angela’s mom has been killed by a terrorist while she was working for the US secret service and the Israeli Mossod. The question I can’t answer yet is who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. The tone of this book would be very confident on how it would turn out. The mood of this book is very curious within the next pages. I haven’t finished the book so I cannot yet tell the them/motif, moral, pattern of organization, author’s purpose, and author’s perspective. The point of view is third person objective.
The main reason I picked this book was because it had the same characters of Zach’s and Jack’s run. Although, another reason I got this book was because when I read the back I saw that it was about a highly rated Israeli service.
If I was to rate this book I would rate it so far a 10 out of 10. The reason is because it gave me the specific place what is happening an how its happening. This made me feel like I was actually in the story.
                                    Sincerely,
                                                Ofek peer

Readers Journal #6 Albert Einstein

Dear Mrs. Zrihen,
The title of this book is Albert Einstein and The Theory of Relativity. The author of this book is Robert Cwiklik. The reason I picked this book is because it is a biography on a really famous and smart man that I don’t know much about. The significance of this passage is that it is in the old day a little bit before the 1900’s. There was six things I did before, while, and after reading this book (2 for each). First there was two things before reading this book. One thing I did before reading this book is I skimmed and scanned through about half of it for text feature and some words I probably wouldn’t know. Another thing I did before reading this book was I look through some of the pictures to get a good idea of what I would be reading. Second there was two things I did while reading this book. The first thing I did while reading this book was I captured every paragraph, sentence, action etc. as a scene in my mind. The second thing I did while reading this book is after every page I read I look at the picture and got a better look at what was happening. Last there were 2 things I did after reading the book. The first thing was I thought about everything that I have read as a summary. The second thing I did was I looked online to check the facts in the book were true. The genre of this book is biography, non-fiction. This book is about how Albert Einstein grew up and the amazing inventions he made. This statement was implied. If I was to give this book a title I would keep it the same because explains exactly what the topic says. The essential message in this book is anybody can make any invention by nit judging a book by its cover. A cause in this book would be the teacher being very strict on the students therefore the effect is they listen and do exactly as she says. If would compare the time now to the time back then it would be a rapid change with all of the discoveries and new inventions made. The pattern of organization of this book is cause and effect because Albert made amazing discoveries which lead us to how we are living now. The authors purpose for writing this book would be to inform the reader more about Albert Einstein. The author believes that Albert himself was a great, outstanding, and smart man and the author probably knew a lot about him which made him want to write a book about him. The point of view of this book is first person. I would recommend this book to anyone who would be in to science or loves to learn about how it was in the old days when they first started with technology. The tone of this book would be surprised with how Albert lived and how he did what he did. The mood would be curious from the beginning to the end of the book. (text-to-self) I would relate this to my life because people today are still discovering new invention. (text-to-text) I have never read a book about albert Einstein or like this one. (text-to-world) I could relate this to the world because there was or even is another smart man like Albert Einstein. If I was to rate this book I would rate it a ten out of 10. The reason I would rate it a ten is because it has accurate information and most like exactly what happened in Albert’s life was in this book.

Readers Journal #5 “The Days Of The Week"

Readers Journal #5:
The Days Of The Week
Dear Mrs. Zrihen,
I have just finished reading the book “The days Of The Week”. The author of this book is Paul Hughes. From what I am guessing is that the author is atheist where he studied every single religion. For sure all of these stories interested me. From just flipping through this book I noticed one thing. It was about every day of the week and how different religions think of it. Many early people worshipped the sun therefore that is why they call it Sunday. On Monday it would be the moons day’s where this is why it is called Monday. The Roman Empire once had a g-d called Tiw who turned into the day of Tuesday. Wednesday was mercury’s day where the first hour of Wednesday is ruled by mercury. The Saxons would choose a very powerful g-d named Thor where he was named after as Thursday. Friday would be Venus’s day where the first hour of Friday was ruled by Venus. Saturday was named after Saturn which people say that in the  first hour Saturn ruled on Saturday. The reason I picked this book was because when I first looked at the cover of this book I thought that it would be about the religions. There were 2 things I did before reading this book. First I look at the cover and examined what would probably happen. The second thing that I did before reading this book was I skim scanned through the whole book just to get a peek at what would happen. There were 2 things that I did while reading this book. First I thought about everything and related it to my everyday life like when it brought up Thor on Thursday I thought about the movie that I saw which was about Thor. The second thing that I did while reading this book was after every page I read, I would look at the picture and get a better idea of what the page was talking about. There were 2 things that I did after reading this book. The first thing that I did after reading this book was I thought about all of the things I read about. The second thing I did after reading this book was I noticed what everyday of the week really meant. The genre of this book is fiction folktale. There are a bunch of characters with no antagonist except for the enemies of the g-ds like Thor. Foils were N/A. Settings were to N/A. There were no plot structures/stories in this book because the book was to inform. The tone of the author is very smart and happy with what he knows and how he knows the way different religions think of the days of the week. The mood would be very curious as to how every religion even thought of the days of the week.  The theme of this book is the days of the week and how they were made. There wouldn’t be a moral for this book because it wouldn’t be considered as a story with plot structures. The point of view of this book is first person. The author’s purpose of this book is to inform people on how the days of the week are made.
This book gave me so much interest into how the days of the week were made. The days of the week are very important but so are the months and years. There fore there is a riddle that helps people remember everything.
It has 12 boughs,
4 nests in each bough,
7 eggs in each nest,
and the 7th egg is of gold.
The tree is the year. The 12 boughs are the months in a year. The 4 nests is the 4 weeks in each month. The seven eggs are the seven days in each week. And the golden one is Sunday.
If I were to rate this book out of 10 I would give it a 10 out of 10. The reason that I would give it a 10 out of 10 is because it gives accurate information of every day of the week and where it came from etc. this book was very interesting and I would recommend it to anyone especially to people who want to learn about the days of the week.
                                    Sincerely,
                                             Ofek Peer
